| Ubanon-Boao Annual District Fiesta 2006 Ubanon-Boao annual district fiesta was celebrated with the usual filial devotion by the devotees of Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary, the patroness, last October 15 2006. The observance of daily penitential procession at four o'clock in the morning opened the month -long observance of October as the month of the Holy Rosary, and the traditional nine-day Novena-Mass in preparation for the feast day. This year's celebration ushered in both the gaity and funfare of the socio-cultural activities consisting of the Inter-school General Information Contest, Spelling Bee Contest for the Graders, Modern Dance Contest, and the fun-filled search for Miss Gay " Mahusay Ako" and Little Miss Ubanon-Boao. The active participation of the four barangay in the district added excitement with the touch of local color in the buntings and arches competition with a handsome cash prizes of P15, P12, and P10,000 respectively for the ist, second and third place personally donated by the Hermana Mayor herself. The daily procession and afternoon nine-day Novena -Mass punctuated the religious observance.The solemn celebration of the feast day was highlighted with the procession of the miraculous image of Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary, and the Pontifical Mass officiated by Bishop Felomino Bactol of Maasin Leyte, and Bishop Emeritus Maximiano T. Cruz with 10 priests concelebrating. The threat of heavy rains during the week miraculously stopped with a fair and sunny weather the whole day of the "patron". Meldring B. Valles was the over-all coordinator of all the activities.The Hermana Mayor, Mrs. Alicia Colandog-Arcales, wife of the late Lito Arcales, was most grateful for the blessings and success of the entire celebration. |
